Cheeky Chops didn’t start in a boardroom.
It started in 2009, when Joanna sat down and designed two birthday cards for friends — simply because there was nothing in the shops she actually liked. Everything felt safe, bland, and forgettable.
It turns out a lot of people felt the same.
What began as a couple of handmade cards quickly grew into a bold, colourful range of designs made for people who like their humour with a bit of bite. And it’s been expanding ever since.
In 2017, a casual conversation in Joanna’s mum’s back garden sparked a new idea.
The question was simple:
Why can’t candles be rude and genuinely funny?
That moment led to the creation of Wanky Candles, with one clear aim — to make candles that people would laugh at, not just politely admire.
No pretence. No fluff. Just honest, cheeky humour.
What started small grew quickly.
We began selling on Amazon, where our products gained traction fast, and later took to TikTok, where things really took off. Building a community that appreciates humour without filters has been one of the most exciting parts of the journey.
As the business has grown, the goal has never changed.
To make people laugh.
Every card, mug and candle is designed and manufactured in-house in the UK. We handle everything ourselves, from design to production, ensuring quality, consistency, and plenty of personality in every product.
Because humour matters.
Because not everything needs to be polite.
And because the world is better with a bit more colour and honesty.
